project number one

Can't divulge anything for now, but I promise I will explain it soon (hopefully this week)...

lovely vintage wrapping paper we found in Binondo (Chinatown here in Manila)...

so pretty! we got these for a buck a sheet..we found out why! the paper's so old they easily tear

...but we couldn't bear parting with these! we just HAD to buy all the stock of these two designs. total cost? 178 pesos! that's roughly almost US$ 4 ;)

a week of eating

Since last weekend, I've been eating more than usual. For some weird reason, my appetite has NOT been cooperating because I'm supposed to be on a diet for my trip to Bacolod on October 16th. How the heck am I going to wear my swimwear if I'll be bulging all over?! The eating madness MUST stop. Anyway, I wouldn't be honest if I said I didn't enjoy every bite I had this past week haha! Lemme show you the source(s) of my "bloatedness"

The BEST fries ever...from McDonald's

Blue Cheese Pasta from Flaming Wings, Katipunan Ave

Original Recipe 5 Wings with Aioli dip (5 wings=10 wings) from Flaming Wings, Katipunan Ave

Spicy Pulled Pork from Flaming Wings, Katipunan Ave

Fresh Rolls from Zao Vietnamese Bistro, Eastwood Mall

Seafood Rice from Zao Vietnamese Bistro, Eastwood Mall

Barbecue Spareribs from Zao Vietnamese Bistro

Pineapple something something rice (haha, I forgot what it's called exactly), Hawaiian Bar-B-Que in Tagaytay
Medium slab of Hawaiian Baby Back Ribs from Hawaiian Bar-B-Que in Tagaytay
Again, I forgot what this is called but it's basically a banana split placed inside half of a frozen coconut. Yum!! Also from Hawaiian Bar-B-Que in Tagaytay

My ULTIMATE comfort food--Classic Jolly Hotdog from Jollibee. I know it doesn't look as appetizing as the previous food pictures but I'm telling you every bite of this is heaven...for me, that is. Haha! And this is obviously not the healthiest thing you should snack on but it's just sooooooo good! And it makes any bad day happy :)

What have you been munching on this past week?

sudden halt

I know I just posted something about a new career thingy last night. Then I had a long talk with my mom a while ago and it looks like this new job opening isn't really a good one. The best person to talk to about NGO work is my mom because that's practically her background, plus a bit (well, not really...maybe a lot) of government work as well so when she says something about whatever NGO/gov't project I'd trust her judgment. Point is, if I do apply I'd just be wasting my time. Ghaaaad I hate this. Well, not really. Okay, I am a tad bit disappointed but I'd rather not waste my time and effort applying in a job that in the end I'd be frustrated with precisely because it's implementing a program designed by individuals who have no idea what's going on in the grassroots level (i.e. they have no clue what's really going on as they're stuck on their academe tower). Whew. That was long. Anyway, I don't want to join a program where I'll end up implementing something that I'm not even sure would be relevant to the community to be helped. I could just imagine my mom's eyes rolling when she read the email I forwarded to her about the program.

Now, what do I do? I might as well just stay put and wait....again.

Ninyo

About a month ago, Annick, Sidelle, and I had a very wonderful dinner at Ninyo in Quezon City. We were supposed to discuss our bazaar plans for December but we ended up talking about relationships. Hahaha! Well, we did talk about our bazaar for 10 minutes but the rest of the evening was just about past relationships and other non-bazaar related things, haha.

We weren't disappointed with the food at Ninyo. First of all, the appetizer was just divine! Wasabi crusted oyster. Yum!! I had the Wasabi Cream Pasta with Salmon, Annick had the US Hanger Steak while Sidelle had the Honey Glazed Salmon with Wasabi Mayo. We had chocolate, coffee, and vanilla creme brulee for dessert. Super stuffed after our meal. The food's a bit pricey, but definitely worth every penny :)

this is it

Because of one email, I now have to make a decision. It's about my career. I know I haven't been talking about job-hunting and what not for a while now. Have been busy with a LOT of things, but with that one email I think I need to make a decision about what I want to do with the rest of my life. I'm not saying I don't like my current job. I realized that I do like it. It's just not fulfilling anymore. I don't see a greater purpose in it. I've been learning to deal with my boss and have realized that on my part, I haven't been more gracious to her. Anyway, my college bff gave me a quote to hold on to while dealing with this career decision I have to make..."Some people want to follow their lovers, and some want to follow their dreams. If you don't know which to choose, just remember that your career won't wake up one morning and tell you it doesn't love you anymore." Can't relate to it that much, but what the heck it's a "go-for-career" piece of advice. I need it.

I hope you all had a great weekend! :)

Sometimes, all we need to be able to accomplish what we want to do in life is a bit of courage to take a leap.
