First of all, belated Happy Labor Day everybody! May 1 fell on a Saturday, but thanks to the president it was announced last Friday that May 3rd would be a holiday since it's the Monday after a weekend regular holiday. Yay for long weekends!! I had work on Labor Day itself, though. I had to observe two focus groups with our client the entire afternoon. It wasn't that bad, both groups were interesting to watch. The first group were female yuppies, and the second group were male yuppies. You can really see the difference with how men and women make decisions, specifically with decisions about eating. Hahaha! Women are more irrational and men are more instinctive. We tend to go with our cravings and we sometimes use eating as a way of bonding with others. Men eat when they're hungry, or to alleviate hunger before eating main meals. I can't really go into the details because it's an ongoing study, but yeah it was really nice to see how the male and female psyches work.
Yesterday, we pretty much spent the entire time at home. I had to prepare two trays of lasagna for my mom's college block's reunion that evening. Twas a fun night getting to know my mom's blockmates. They're all noisy. Hahaha! They thought my brother and I would be shocked with all their stories about my mom in college. We just told them she already told these stories to us before and my mom's not a totally different person now. She's still a bit loud when with friends and she's still super duper obsessive compulsive. My mom even told them that she's passed on this trait to my brother and I, much to the dismay and amusement of everyone. They couldn't believe it when my mom told them that at an early age my brother and I already discovered using highlighters for reviewing, that we also loved collecting post-it note pads, and that we use planners. I was so tired last night I couldn't stay up and wait for everyone to leave. As per our helper, everyone left around 1 in the morning already. Am glad my mom had a lot of fun.
I spent the first half of the day with a bit of pampering. I woke up early and had a very relaxing foot spa and hand spa. In the afternoon, I hung out with my friend Mishi at Cafe Breton for a chika date. We were supposed to watch Iron Man 2 but when we got to the mall, there weren't any seats available anymore! So we decided to just do a bit of window shopping.
Just to share, and it's really quite embarrassing I'm sharing this...yesterday, when my mom and I went to the mall after church service, we decided to check out Aldo. I fell in love with a pair of shoes but I had to walk away from them. I could afford them, but I knew that if I spent my money on just a pair of shoes I'd later on regret it since there are quite a few things I need to save up for. And also, my grandmother's not here because she's visiting my uncles in the US so my mom and I are sharing the household expenses until the end of the month. I got teary-eyed walking out of the store (to my mother's disbelief). I'm sorry...I got emotional about it, I don't know why. Hahahaha! It's so funny now, and it's actually lame that I got emotional about a pair of shoes. There are bigger problems and issues that deserve my tears, not shoes.
A week to go before the National Elections!!!! I'm volunteering again for NAMFREL, an election watchdog group. This is my second time to volunteer. The first time was in 2007 for the Senatorial and Local Elections. This is gonna be exciting. I was assigned to the headquarters of NAMFREL in 2007 to man the NCR desk. This time, I'll be on field! I got my brother to volunteer this year so we're both assigned to observe our area's precinct. We'll be there the entire day on May 10th. Hopefully this will be a peaceful election. And I'm really praying that the next president will really LEAD our country. I know that God's will WILL be done. Whoever wins this elections will be the Philippines' president for a greater purpose.
How was your Labor Day weekend? :)

It's so nice that you're volunteering for an election watchdog group since you're doing something to help our elections. :)
I'm voting for the first time this year, and I'm really thinking about my chosen candidates. I'm excited yet anxious at the same time.
